Hurray, hurray, the holidays are here! Now it’s time to pack up the kids and get away. A few days off, finally relaxing, spending time with the family or simply doing nothing. That sounds good, doesn’t it?
If only it were that easy! The time is drawing ever closer and you still have so much to do. The more hectic your everyday life is beforehand, the more difficult it will be for you to get into rest mode. An engine that has been running at full speed for a long time also needs time to cool down again. And so does your body!
Our recommendation: start mentally preparing for your holiday a few days early. We deliberately say mentally. You should still get your work done, but be aware that your holiday is only an interruption for a certain period of time. It’s not the end of the world and everything won’t fall apart just because you’re away. Many people want to have their desk clean and all their tasks done before they go on holiday. This is the only way they can supposedly go on holiday stress-free. The reality is exactly the opposite. They are totally stressed and more than ready for the island. This stress naturally has an effect on their environment and family. Little things (such as forgotten sun cream) can quickly turn into a real argument. That doesn’t have to be the case!
In the last few days before your holiday, concentrate on structuring and prioritising your tasks sensibly.
Check exactly which tasks are really important and how long you need to complete them. Complete all important tasks and schedule all other tasks that cannot be delegated for completion after your holiday. Remember, other people/companies are also on holiday. So there’s no point in you quickly finalising the quote you’ve long since requested if your customer isn’t in the office for the next two weeks. It’s possible that careless mistakes have crept in during the rush and you’ll have to rework them later.
Did you know that you can record tasks and appointments in SAP Business One?
Activity management extends across all areas. Tasks can therefore not only be assigned to a business or contact person, they can also be linked to specific documents. You need to talk to your supplier about an order, but the employee won’t be available for another three days? No problem, right-click on the order to set a resubmission in no time at all. And that’s not all: at the touch of a button, you can activate a function in SAP Business One that shows you the ‘activities planned for today’ when you start up in the morning. This is the best way to organise your worklist and clear your head.
Use Messenger (similar to WhatsApp) to exchange short messages with other users or groups.
If you are currently working on a specific task and would like a quick reply from a colleague, you can also use the ‘live collaboration’ function in SAP Business One. Particularly helpful: If you are in a document, you can integrate this document into the conversation. Your counterpart can immediately jump to the relevant document with a click and complete their task. That saves time, because: The holiday is just around the corner!
Do you have the feeling that our tips aren’t working for you because you or your team are constantly being given more tasks than you can handle? Do you feel like you’re on a hamster wheel and can’t find your way out? People in this situation find it even harder to enjoy their well-deserved summer holiday because they are constantly plagued by worries and anxieties. It’s high time to take a fundamental look at the structures and processes in the company.
Our recommendation here is to make the most of your holiday and take a look at things from the outside. Refocus on your goals and the really important things. Our world has changed and so have the demands that companies have to meet today.
We wish you a relaxing start to your holiday and a few enjoyable and restful days with your family. Stay curious and check back on our blog afterwards. See you soon!
