Innovative SAP technology
ClearVAT AG, a Berlin-based FinTech start-up, offers its European customers needs-based and legally compliant services for the calculation and presentation, collection of receivables and payment of VAT in the country of destination of the respective goods deliveries. What at first sounds like a matter of course is actually a considerable challenge in cross-border B2C trade in the EU28, as several thousand national, regional and product-specific special regulations have to be applied, delivery thresholds have to be monitored and heterogeneous reporting obligations in the member states have to be met.
In order to develop a complex “European VAT engine” and the accompanying transactional process model, ClearVAT strived for reliable partnerships, and chose SAP technologies and UNIORG as a long-term and innovative cooperation partner. Together, a holistic solution was created, based on an SAP S/4HANA core system and integrated complex algorithms for high-performance VAT calculation using SAP Cloud Platform Services. “The fact that we were able to set up an SAP S/4 on a HANA database basis with UNIORG in a record time of under six months is an enormous achievement”, says Roman Maria Koidl, founder and CEO of ClearVAT AG. After the successful completion of the project work, a 3-month pilot phase with selected eCommerce dealers will now follow. “UNIORG was always more than a technological partner during the joint project.
