The SAP partner and full-service provider UNIORG has successfully migrated its own productive SAP Business Suite software to the SAP HANA platform. Since early December 2013, some 200 users are working entirely with the SAP Business Suite. The system offers key performance advantages, especially in terms of reporting, which can open up new possibilities in daily business.
The project to migrate the dual system landscape from the SAP MaxDB database to SAP HANA was started in August 2013 with the upgrade to Enhancement Package 7 for SAP ERP and executed by UNIORG. SAP offered support remotely throughout the duration of the project and worked together with UNIORG to improve the migration tools. The migration of the test system required a number of optimization loops, but the migration of the productive system ran smoothly and only took one day to complete. The system has been stable and error-free for nearly three months.
“We are very pleased with the migration project and the overall performance of our current SAP HANA-based system,” says UNIORG managing director Thomas Weber. “We see SAP HANA as the integrated basis for the commercial real-time applications of the future. SAP HANA-based SAP Business Suite applications will become a single points of truth (SPOTs), complex data replication processes in other application components will no longer be necessary, and the complexity of the system landscape will be significantly reduced. Furthermore,” says Weber, “SAP Hana is the ideal basis for new, mobile access methods.”
For this reason, the Dortmund-based company is currently working on the mobilization of major core functions of its company solution based on SAP HANA and the UI Development Toolkit for HTML5 from SAP (SAPUI5). “We will offer employees and management a comprehensive solution package that quickly provides them with the information they need anywhere, at any time, on any terminal device. Furthermore, in the next step we will migrate additional SAP applications such as SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse and SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) to SAP HANA.”
“We decided to make an early transition to SAP HANA, not only because we as an innovative company in the SAP community were impressed by the technology and its possibilities for the future, but also because we want to be able to show our customers the real benefits of SAP HANA in everyday operation.”
